Spencer Community Schools 4 Year Old Preschool Option
Spencer Community Schools will be offering an AM (8:15-11:15) and PM (12:15-3:15) class for children who are 4 by September 15, 2010. This will be a Tuesday through Friday preschool class offered at Johnson Elementary. Transportation will be offered to the following child care centers (Trinity, YMCA, Sacred Heart). This preschool option is available free to those who attend. Because of the limited space and availability, twenty available slots will be open for lottery. All applicants need to have contacted the FV office and returned an application by Friday, May 28th 2010. All those who have applied for entry will be notified by Tuesday, June 1, 2010.

DISTRICT RETIREMENT RECEPTION
Spencer Schools will be hosting a retirement recognition coffee on Wednesday, May 19th, from 3:45-5:30 with a short program at 4:30 p.m. in the Fieldhouse at Spencer High School.

The public is invited to attend and honor these dedicated individuals for their years of service to the Spencer School District.

FACILITY STUDY COMMITTEE TO MEET
The Spencer School Board will meet with the District's Facility Study Committee on Tuesday, May 4th, 2010 at 5:00 P.M. at the District's Central Office at 23 East 7th Street. The Board will meet, but have no policy discussion or deliberation on matters concerning the Spencer School District. Call 262-8950 for more information.

OPEN ENROLLMENT NOTICE
Parents or guardians considering the use of open enrollment option to enroll their children in another public school district in the State of Iowa for the 2010-11 school year should be aware of the following dates.
March 1, 2010 - Last date for regular open enrollment requests for the 2010-11 school year.
September 1, 2010 - The deadline for entering kindergarten students. Information and/or forms are available at the Superintendent's Office, 262-8950.

Clay Co. Public Health Dept. Vaccination Clinic for Spencer Community Schools Students
The Clay County Public Health Department will hold vaccination clinics as soon as vaccine supply becomes sufficient and your child's school will let you know the specific dates once vaccine is on hand. Children under age 10 will need two doses of vaccine spaced about 4 weeks apart. There will be no cost to you for this vaccine.
